Product Description
The game that first opened up the world of video games to a wider audience is back, going beyond being just a virtual dollhouse to a complete interactive neighbourhood. The basic concept is still the same though, as you create your own computerised family and help (or hinder) them in achieving their lifetime dreams. Instead of just dealing with one house at a time though, your whole sims town is part of one continuous map, with neighbours going about their business independently. Likewise your own family can explore at will and interact with any and all buildings and people. Once fully grown a sim can have up to 60 personality traits - from loner to flirt - all of which you can influence via their environment and the people they interact with. However you want to play and whatever you want to do it's easier than ever to create your own virtual soap opera. - New Seamless, Open Neighbourhood - Explore the Neighbourhood Freely: See the sights with your Sims! The new seamless neighbourhood architecture allows your Sims to roam freely around the neighbourhood and visit their loved one and friends or foes. Discovering other Sims homes and families, traveling around to new locations like City Hall or the local park will create a whole new way of life for your Sims.
- New Create A Sim - Create Any Sim You Can Imagine: In addition to the open, living neighbourhood, the all-new Create-a-Sim interface will feature easy-to-use design tools that allow you to make truly detailed Sims that are more realistic than ever. Create-a-Sim gives you the incredible freedom to customise just about any Sim you can imagine.
- New Realistic Personalities - Every Sim Is A Unique Person, With A Distinct Personality: With the innovative and proprietary Realistic Personality System in The Sims 3, you can attribute each character with five distinct personality traits, helping shape yo

Sims 3 - very much worth losing yourself in... July 29, 2010 KarlRHart Basically its a similar situation to the previous game, The Sims 2. The major thing I found was that, even with my old single core pc, it runs really smoothly. In fact, runs smoother than Sims 2. Now bear in mind I'm running just the base game, i.e. none of the expansion packs. Not sure if that makes a difference, but the performance was one thing I was worried about, and didn't buy it for ages. But took the plunge and was very pleased I did.
A cool thing is the fact that the other houses that are available in the town will gradually be filled by other sims, and they will live, or move out, or move in with each other, or live and work and do all the other things you'd expect, so you don't have to worry about populating the empty lots, new people will come and go in the town. And its optional, you can select the game not to allow the other families to do this, so if you prefer you can have control over your towns population. Also, the lifespan of the sims can be controlled via a slider, so your sims can live for lots of game days, or a shorter span if required. Options like this make a game very versatile, and it helps a lot.
I still play Sims 2, as there are differences between the two games which mean I don't have to leave my Sims 2 behind. They go well side by side.
The downside is gonna be the inevitable numerous expansions which make the game rather expensive when you add them all together. But if the expansions really do add and expand the game, then its gonna be a great investment.
'salright July 24, 2010 MJ Given the last sims game I played was The Sims Deluxe, this blew my skull open. But in essence, it hasn't changed much. You still grind away waking your sim up, feeding him, trotting him off to work and eventually going through the irritation of raising a child. Yes, the graphics are much better and there is more of everything, but it's just the same game with a bigger chest and flashier jewelery. If you like the sims you'll go mad for it, but as a game on its own, it's no Portal.
Don't forget to get the free town by registering! July 14, 2010 B.W (England) So...
Create a sim is much more in depth and you can add things such as freckles and beauty spots. Traits are the main thing to mention as each trait has a different effect on your sim and you can choose traits such as evil, frugal, loves the outdoors, genius, bookworm and natural cook. Some are good and some are bad and there are endless combinations :)
You play to gain points (which is ultimately why you aim to your sim's lifewish) which you can spend in game on various things to make your sims life easier!
The towns are great, and there are many families set up already for you to choose to play on. Some of the houses are great fun!
Various buildings in the town can be bought out or you can 'become a partner' for a fee to earn extra income.
Basically, you won't regret buying this, I just don't read great things for the expansion packs... but then who needs them when there is so much to do on this one alone!
Yeah, it's really fun (: June 15, 2010 thehappyamazoner (Bristol) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I do actually really like this game, it's really clever and there's so much to do! I don't go on it often, but that's not because it's bad or anything. i found it fun and it loads surprisingly fast, that and lots of other positive stuff :D a good buy, far better that some shooting war game or something! especially as it's so easy to personalise...aah I love it!
Great Game June 11, 2010 Anita Cranwell (Hertfordshire, UK) I bought this for my daughter after she'd played it at a friends house and wanted her own! She has thoroughly enjoyed it! After reading previous reviews it sounded like a safe bet and it hasn't disappointed!
