Product Description
In the 33rd Century, the old Earth Empire finally collapsed. As chaos engulfed the interstellar empire, the military, under the aegis of the Earth Command, stepped forward to restore order. Acting in a severe and often draconian manner, Earth Command made the difficult decisions that politicians, mired in corruption and their own self-interest, could not. Entire worlds were abandoned, and much of the Quantum Gate network was intentionally destroyed in an effort to isolate the retreating Prime Worlds from the rest of the galaxy. Despite the best efforts of the military, civil war erupted. After a hundred years, Earth Command was finally able to restore order and establish a new government, which was christened the United Earth Federation. Risen, phoenix-like from the ashes of the old Earth Empire, the United Earth Federation vowed to purge itself of bureaucratic corruption and remain pure to a single task: the rescue of mankind's war-torn worlds and an end to the Infinite War. By any and all means necessary. It has worked toward that goal by maintaining an iron grip on the new empire, creating a totalitarian government out of what might be considered the most successful military coup in human history. Supreme Commander is the first ever RTS to deliver truly strategic as well as tactical gaming with an emphasis on scope as well as ease of use. Set in the 37th Century you command one of three races as the Supreme Commander with a single goal in mind - to end the 1000 year Infinite War and become the reigning power supreme. - Planetary warfare on a Galactic scale - zoom from the tactical unit level all the way out to the full theatre of war in one seamless motion
- Includes full naval, ground and air combat
- 3 unique factions that each appeal to different player personalities with approximately 100 units/structures per faction
- 3 story-driven
Amazon.co.uk Preview It may not be quite as famous as Command & Conquer or WarCraft, but for many real-time strategy connoisseurs, 1997's Total Annihilation is more than a match for its better known rivals. This is the long awaited, unofficial, follow-up by Chris Taylor, creator of the original. As in Total Annihilation you don't take the role of a nameless overseer, but instead you directly control a giant nanobot dispensing robot responsible for building all major buildings. From these are manufactured a dizzying array of specialised meachanoids, from infantry and artillery robots to repair droids and special construction bots. The units in the original Total Annihilation ranged greatly in size but here the difference is profound. While many units are roughly human in scale others seem to be the size of a small village, as gigantic spider bots stroll through forests as if they were walking through tall grass. Aircraft carriers are just as massive and function properly as mobile cities with repair and production facilities. The game's scale is reinforced even further by the new ability to zoom the camera so far out that individual units become icons on an overhead map. This is no gimmick though as you can still control multiple units on this new strategic scale, as well as deploy nuclear missiles and other weapons of mass destruction. Total Annihilation's superb waypoint system is replicated and improved here, allowing you to micromanage in exacting detail every movement of every unit. Patrol routes can be plotted out (as useful for repair units as for combat air patrols) as well as strategically circuitous routes around any terrain. All of which is perfect for fighting on multiple different fronts at once. After years of stasis the real-time strategy seems finally to be evolving to the next level. HARRISON DENT

Supreme February 26, 2010 K. D. Kazantzis (Greece) If you haven't played Total Annihilation then that is why you are reading this review. Because if you've played Supreme Commander's creator previous game, you would not need a review. As far as RTS games go, S.C. is probably the most ingenious work ever done. What you need to know is that it is set in the future (tanks, planes, mechs, ships are all futuristic) and there are 3 factions fighting amongst each other. Depending on how you like things done you can choose one out of the three. Maps are huge and with real distances. For example the biggest one is 25x25km and a plane will take 2 minutes or more to cross it. I don't know what else to say, other than if you play games, then this is a game worth playing and worth owning.
One of the best RTS games June 28, 2009 P. Passmore (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Plot:
Well this lacks much of a plot, the campaign structures, slowly open up the huge tech structure. It is far more enjoyable in my view to play the skirmish maps where all tech is open.
3 Campaigns - 6 missions each.
All 3 sides have minor differences. This can be a good thing in the view of keeping the game balanced. However, each side has 3 experimental units which tower over the battle field.
Game play:
Every attack can be countered. This game differs from most RTS games as it allows for defence against WMDs, in this game it is nukes. The missile counter system is excellent, enough nukes can breach the defence but highly unlikely, as they take so long to produce and require large amounts of resources. This is great considering other RTS games rarely give any defence against the ultimate weapon.
That said everything can be countered. Aircraft by AA turrets, AA tank, interceptors and including ships armed with AA guns. Now base defence is a mix of turrets and shield generators. This game requires intelligence of your enemy's base, movements and current projects. This is gained through the use of spy planes, scouts, sonar and radar. Everything can be countered and with unit mixes can allow for interesting tactics to be used.
This game does require a lot of time. I have played skirmish games that have lasted 5 hours. I recommend playing the campaign to get to grips with the game structure, and then move onto skirmishes. The game is much more entertaining when you have access to all units. It's very enjoyable watching experimental units in battle. While very strong they do have weaknesses to certain attacks.
Issues:
Well I have experienced slow down when a few thousand units on the battlefield. The game requires a powerful CPU due to the taxing AI.
Installing was not a problem for me, quick and easy to get into your first campaign level.
Graphics are good, not amazing but not really important, as the game experience is great.
I had issues with multiplayer, never got it to work. May try to get it to work again, but the skirmish is extremely fun and even all the hours I have put into the game I still know that there is lots of enjoyment left in the game.
Overview:
* Extremely fun.
* Challenging with a steep learning curve
* Different from other RTS games, mainly due to the games depth.
* Minor tech issues that have not stopped my enjoyment of the game.
* Great individual fraction differences in the experimental units.
Not A Scratch On Command & Conquer! March 18, 2009 Mr. G. Hannah (Glasgow) 0 out of 5 found this review helpful
I was expecting this game to be half decent after reading the 5 star reviews of it, but the other 1 star reviews are right. The HUD is overly big and it doesn't seem very well positioned at the bottom of the screen. I do all my gaming on a 50" HD and the view of the map seemed too cluttered even on my TV!! It always seemed to be too busy on screen to see what all the units were up to and even when you zoom right out to the world view, trying to distinguish between units and structures can be tricky. I wouldn't advise this game to anyone, give me C&C any day!!!
BEST IVE SEEN March 1, 2009 Mrs. D. M. Siva-jothy (UK) Okay well this game is by far the best ive ever seen it has kept me entertained for hours on end. okay lets start with the goods
GOODS:
1. Game has excellent graphics and physics everything works how it should and theres a lovely zoom in ability so you can get the best of the graphics 10/10
2.story line is very good and is quite realistic for instance instead of humans travelling to other planets and discovering millions of other alien races they only find one (you cant play as them though)all the factions are branches of humanity.
3.Scale is excellent there is literally no unit limit making wars intence and powerful plus there are some cool experimentals you can use to change the tide of any war. and last but not least the wreckage stays there so the battle field becomes a pile of broken machines.
4.factions are good to
UEF: the good guys who want to save humanity and reunite all humans bla bla bla..
Aeon Illuminate:a side that consists of mostly females giving them the name the sexist illuminate. there goals is to spread a religoun called the way.
Cybran Nation: my personal favourite in the game. and no they are not robots they are humans with AI implants that make them super smart. they aim to free all the other cybrans who are enslaved by the UEF.
all in all good game
BADS:
1. High system requirements you need a very powerful computer to play
2. AI computer players are stupid they never attack you all they do is defence.
3.campaigns may have good storys but terrible gameplay during them all they do is plop you on a planet fighting a commander with a big base already set and plus he keeps taunting you.
just stick with the skirmishes...
Lies:
okay some of the things other reviewers say are lies the game is cool it does have strategy and it does take alot of time out of your life because its so fun.
Overall good game highly recommend it good job chris taylor
