Ignore the nay sayers!! February 26, 2010 Mr. A. Robertson This game is truely brilliant.
Before buying it i read many reviews (most of them very positive), however there where the odd negative one. After taking both positives and negatives onboard i decided to purchase the game and was not disapointed. If you like your stratergy games then you will love this. I played the Civ games back in the mid 90s (the early Colonization game being a fond memory) and this game, in my humble oppinion this game is worthy of all the accolades given to it...give it a try and lose hours/days of your life (in a good way!)
Civ 4 review February 18, 2010 M. Cosens With the complete edition, Civ 4 is an extremely comprehensive game. Easily earning over 80 out of 100 in score, however this game is not for those not willing to devote a LOT of time to achieving something. No match of any significant size is going to take you less than at least several hours, some can take days. Esentually not at all appropriate for casual gamers. Combat is not a focal point of this either, it is delivered through simple avatar animations, where 3 units on board are meant to represent a much larger group of them, if you come into this game wanting an action based RTS, look elsewhere. If creating and developing your own empire through cultural, scientific and agressive means is more your cup of tea, this is esentially your holy grail, the definitive game of the 4X genre.
One of the best strategy game ever February 15, 2010 Lorenzo Riano 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I played all of Civilization titles, and this is by far the best. Recommended to everyone!
Civ 4 complete February 10, 2010 Mr. Julian Jardine (Perth, Scotland) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have been a civilization player for years. Its long strategic game play and ever changing worlds has always kept my interest and proved to be a game I keep coming back to time and time again. Civ 4 brings an upgraded graphics to the game, neat little animations to brighten it up, extra wonders, civilizations, continent types and inventions. It plays in a similar way to previous versions and the same variety of routes to victory. I would recommend it to players new and old.
This could be the greatest PC game ever! December 5, 2009 The Dave 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The problem with most games is that they end, and become just a fond memory. The problem with most strategy games is that after a while playing them, they beome a routine, even monotonous.
Not so with civilization 4! This game is a world in it's own right. You get to control all of history, and live it your own way. There's almost nothing that you can't do.(involving many famous leaders, religions, science\technologies....)
The game is literally infinite in posibilities!
What I really like is that you can play the game according to your own personality and still win. If you want to be warlike you can be warlike. If you want to live the whole of history without a war, you can if you want. Unlike most strategy games, for once here you feel truly in control. You play by your moral rules.
It's also the most worthy game ever, being very educational and responsable when it comes to relating element of history.
And don't forget that this game is also loads of fun and pretty easy to get the hang of.(unlike most strategy games)
The only down side is this: How on earth is anyone ever going to make a better game! This truly is the pinacle of video gaming!
So, if you've got a brain and like games that make use of said organ, then buy this game and let you brain boogie!
