Product Description
Soulstorm is the third and final expansion to the genre defining and critically acclaimed RTS, Dawn of War. In Soulstorm, two new armies are introduced, raising the total number of playable armies in DoW to an unprecedented count of nine while also adding additional units to all existing factions. The revolutionary meta-game that was introduced in Dark Crusade is further expanded to an interplanetary scale, allowing players to battle across a star system. Combined with its sister products, Soulstorm makes Dawn of War the largest and most detailed RTS ever released - Does not require original Dawn of War to play offline, original Dawn of War is required for online play only.
- Two New Armies: Play as the Dark Eldar or Sisters of Battle, bringing the total number of available armies in DoW to nine, these two new factions fight with a new resource derived from the souls of the faithful and the fallen.
- New Air Units: Strategic warfare in the 41st Millennium gains a whole new dimension as each army gains new air units to rain death from the skies.
- Brutal Domination: Wage war across an entire solar system as the metagame map introduced in Dark Crusade is expanded to an interplanetary scale. Liberate, enslave, or destroy entire worlds as you unleash your armies fury across the galaxy. Players will now strive to conquer an entire solar system with multiple planets and moons to be conquered - in total 34 maps are available to the player (25 for DC).
- Enhanced Customisation: Customise your hero's weapons, items and abilities as he grows in power and personalise your army's insignias, colors, banners and names. Earn and unlock achievements and medals as you prove your superiority online.

Great Present March 27, 2010 Mr. Royston E. Mandy (South Woodham Ferrers, Essex. UK) Bought this for my grandsons birthday and he was over the moon, we have had difficulty dragging him away from the game.
Not bad, not great. November 13, 2009 D. Neasham This game is far too much like Dark crusade, not only due to the campaign (Territory control just like Dark crusade) but in the units and wargear too, the only additional units are airborne units, which when used properly can pretty much solve any problem, just build up a base, pump out as many airborne units as possible, destroy the enemy, repeat for every territory. The wargear as stated is also exactly the same (or has minor differences, but I can't see any) why is it so difficult to add some different wargear? Or different comander units all together for that matter, they're just the same character models as dark crusade.
The only differences I see are minor, such as having fewer units to a squad here or a squad cap there etc... apart from of course the addition of 2 new playable factions, only one of which was implemented quite well (dark eldar) the other (sisters of battle I think they're called?) I can never use, they just seem terrible and unplayable.
Soulstorm shares pretty much the same gameplay as the first 3 games so if DOW's your thing this game is certainly worth picking up or if you got it with a collection it's not something to ignore. The only real major problem I have with this game is the camera, it is FAR too zoomed in on the battle field and you can't see ANYTHING that's going on. I had to download a mod just for the camera, but after that it felt like DOW as usual.
So all in all, a good game and a good addition to the other DOW games, but it's easily the worst of them all.
3/5
Its good, but stick dark crusade October 25, 2009 G. Walker (UK) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am going to make this as brief as possible.
Dont switch from dark crusade to this expansion.
The multiplayer load is quite a bit slower,
The newer races are just quite boring.
Necrons and tau were a great new release in dark crusade,
and the campaign was much better to.
but all theyve done with this game is added two mediocre un important races,
and gave everyone flying viechles.
The addition of a flying viechle to each race makes the game really nooby now.
Now space marines can deepstrike and spam your base with land speeder tempests.
The campaign is just basically the same as dark crusade but instead of one big planet there are many.
Its not worth buying this game, there maybe more online players than dark crusade,
but the games are much better in DC, and the loading time is about 1/2.
If you must own this game, buy the anthology if you havent bought the previous games yet.
its good but DC delivers less loading time on multiplayer,
and no nooby flying viechles, And soulstorm make alot of changes to the req prices of
things which i hated.
Good but not great.
2.5/5
a sad end for a great series May 9, 2009 ben hindle I love dawn of war, and as soon as soulstorm came out i was excited to get my hands on it.
however in truth this game adds not much - 2 races (one of which, the sisters of battle are incredibly terrible and their turrets have serious trouble killing grots)and Dark eldar. The dark eldar are nicely done and have a good set of animations and a nice overall feel to them, not many complaints there.
The final addition is the air units for all races, these are incredibly glitchy and get stuck on mountains etc. The worst are the imperial guards marauder bomber - it has lascannons on the nose that it doesn't use, and if you try ordering more than one of them to do a bombing run at a time they cancel each other out and nothing happens.
I think that the best course of action for Dawn of War fans is to buy Dark crusade, and download the witch hunters mod, the daemon hunters mod, the steel legion mod and the tyranid mod, on top of the new races mixer mod, this will allow you to play dark crusade as all of those races at once, and gives you a more complete game than soulstorm.
Engaging and Tactical RTS April 22, 2009 Mr. A. Scatchard (Inverness, UK) Dawn of War: Soulstorm is the 3rd expansion pack to the origonal Dawn of War game, and as such has a lot to live up to. Bringing in the two new races; Sisters of Battle - the female equivilent of the Space Marines but with more style, and the Dark Eldar - the counterpart to the origonal Eldar race encountered in the Winter Assult expansion.
My first impressions were good and that continued thoughout the game. The campaign mode lets you take control of any of the nine unique races and send them on an extermination across four planets and their moons. In essence the overview and stragegy remains the same as the Dark Crusade expansion, with turn based attacks for each race in the overview but a full RTS once attacking or defending a province.
The difficulty can be adjusted, but you will find a rather fair difficulty curve, reaching its peak at the enemy's origonal stronghold. That said, there are times when the difficulty does jump a bit and you can find yourself pitched way in over your heads on a province that should be rather weak.
The online Multiplayer is one of the best and most varied features that will always pit you against a new and challenging opponent forcing you to take new tactics and fight harder than ever before to emerge victorious
All in all, this game is deffinately worth buying, and is an excellent addition to your game collection
