4 out of 5 stars Settler 7 - A nice restart of the series!   June 23, 2010

When I heard about the Settlers 7 game I was quite surprise. Why? Because I still liked the Settlers 2 and 3 far more then 5 and 6 which both were quite a big dissapointed to me. But, I like the series and I couldn't wait to get the demo (beta or something) just to see if I like this new restart (I think as a very good restart). Well, I like the game. The music is awesome, the graphics are exactly what they should be, the roads are finaly roads, the people are working as they should and that is the not even the best part yet. The maps have sectors now, the army control has been improved quite a lot and now you can control an army like you should have. Research, upgrades, buildings to construct and sectors to conquer :P The main diffrences of the new game compared to the older versions are sectors, prestige, upgrades, research and army control + MP part of the game. Also consider that now you have a nice castle that you can build and desig as you want and it will be in all your missions. You can change a lot of parts, to make the castle as you like, as you can unlock more parts as you play the game. All these new ideas bring a new and fresh wind to the series, maybe even helping the game to restore the respect and the love that Settlers 2 had at that time. The DRM program attacked to the game is indeed a problem but well... they should have figured that by now. Uplay is nice as it helps unlock some maps and castle parts, but that is lame compared to what they could have done with the site. A great restart of the series and as a fan I hope that the expansion or the next game to be even good then this one :)

Much too hard for me. AI gets points whilst I am waiting for upgrades and soldiers. Disappointing

4 out of 5 stars Another game bites the dust   May 24, 2010

Reason for the title is this game is based online, it has very bad connection. I know from my research it is a good game if you have the specs to play it. But the reason for the 1star how fun is the game is due to I couldn't play it it was so jerky and wouldn't work.

The extra content that game with the game is good though.

3 out of 5 stars Good Game, great box of stuff. Worlds worst DRM   May 7, 2010
ANkh (Dublin, Ireland)
A really fun game geared to multiplayer from the ground up.

The multiplayer mechanics can feel a little constricting in the single player campaign.
They are built to take the game away from fighting and allow it to be won by other things.
These other things occasionally feel very trivial and irrelevant.

The cut-scenes look good but have terrible dialog. You can skip them.

The major downside to this game is the fact that it comes with the absolute worst DRM in history.
If your internet connection drops you cannot keep playing. Even in single player.
