Windows 7 does not support this game or Return to Castle Wolfrenstein. Is there a way to rectify this?

Still think this is the best game ever.I'm not a fan of the "shoot-em-up"games but this still requires a degree of skill to play plus lots of time!!
Do,however, find that occasionaly game "freezes" for no apparent reason.
A game that will stand the test of time! July 27, 2007 Mr. J. G. Egginton (Birmingham, West Midlands United Kingdom) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I will admit it has been many years since I last played this game, indeed it has been probably 7 or so years since it was in my gaming collection, but still this game is an incredible achievement. I have played Alpha Centauri and a few other Sid Meier games since the Civ 2 days and they have been great, but Civilisation 2 (for me) is the game which they are all compared to, and admitedly not many have matched it. The premise is simple, dictate your own fate in a hostile and changable environment - develop your civilisation over hundreds of years and deal with every struggle and advantage thrown your way. The depth of this game is stunning. The amount of knowledge contained within this package is akin to some software package such as Encarta that was around at the time. In short, a totally fantastic game, if you like your strategy informative and gripping and you don't mind losing a few hours here or there then this is your game. The graphics are dated, the sounds may be a bit cheesey and to be honest you may have trouble running the game on modern systems (I'm not sure) but if you can then go for it!

Civ2 - A true piece of history! May 7, 2006 C. White (Nottinghamshire, England, UK) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
Civilization II is a must-have pice of gaming history. Having played Civ3 and Civ4, I still find myself coming back to this older version again and again. Though the graphics are poor by today's standards, they do the job, and don't detract from the gameplay in any way. Indeed, the most important aspect of this game is the gameplay, which has practically unlimited possibilities. After choosing the setting for your journey across time (the real-world Earth map is a personal favourite), you are plunged into darkness with just a solitary settler unit for company. From that point on, the aim is to explore the land, research technologies, build cities and city improvements, and so on. Diplomacy with the computer controlled players is slightly annoying at times- especially if your civilization gains "reputation points" (for negative government decisions). Nevertheless, this is nearly a flawless game that belongs in every gamer's collection.
