Amazon.co.uk Review With the SimCity 3000 franchise being as popular as ever, EA bring us SimCity 3000--UK Edition. Following on from the World Edition, this version concentrates on the UK, offering a UK look on things; Big Ben, Trafalgar Square and Tudor Building are all present. The game follows on in the same style as the SimCity series and sees you trying to build a city by assigning zones for residential, commercial and industrial buildings. In addition to this, you must also worry about water, electric and even where to put your landfill site for the rubbish. This game has come on leaps and bounds since SimCity 2000, although if you invested in SimCity 3000 the first time around then you are really going to have to want that English feel. --Paul Munford

Sim City 300 started a whole trend of simmilar games ( age of empires,Haegemonia, laser sqad nemesis and many others). It is always great fun to play and you can choose over 14 scenarios andcustomise your terrain with uk countrysisde, sprawling deserts and redwood forests. Worth buying.
Very Involving, Very Cool December 25, 2002 Luke Hutton 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Simcity 3000 is such a step-forward from SC2000, in the same way that SC2000 improved SimCity Classic. Several new features impress me. Being able to minimise the toolbars and just browse your city in full screen is excellent, following the cars and Sims as they live their life. Strangely, some disasters are "missing" from 3000, such as floods and air crashes. Floods are replaced by whirlpools, which are pointless as they rarely cause any destruction and could be replaced by something a little more testing of your emergency services. Rather than having a interruptive newspaper spoiling your city building, a news ticker has been created which I think helps create the biggest improvement. As petitioners ask for ordinances to be passed, and advisors bring up issues affecting your city, you can simply click on whatever you are interested in. This is much more involving with your Sims rather than clicking boxes to pass ordinances which happened in SC2000 with no feel of improvement. The graphics have obviously been lifted, and rather than tedious sounds for music, we have groovy jass tracks, making this one of the few games I actually turn UP the volume for music. With the added bonus of the worldwide exchange of community to download buildings, cities and scenarios plus a utility to design your own buildings SC3000 has few limits. The program does run quite slow on low-mid level PCs as soon as your city reaches a commendable size, and I do experience spontaneous crashes, but I've put this down to some TSRs messing with it. I recommend you to get this edition of Sc3000 for the added bonuses including the UK Building Set, landscape settings and extra disasters.
Good Game. Good Game. October 5, 2000 Big_rexy21@hotmail.com (Cambridge, UK) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
New and updated version of the classic Sim City. New features make it more user friendly (no more spending hours fixing the fiddly water system) but they also seem to have taken away a little bit of the unpredictability of the original. Disasters are fewer and city growth seems to occur without too much effort. I would say that they have made it "easier" which is a shame really as some of the challenge has gone. Despite these minor quibbles the game is still excellent and provides a bit more of a challenge to the grey matter than your average PC game.
So Much Fun! October 4, 2000 samcro83@aol.com (London, England) 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is easily (in my opinian) the best Sim City game so far. Firstly, the graphics are amazing, and also, everything is large. You can sit down to do 30 minutes work on your city, and you will look at your clock 10 minutes later, and see that 3 hours have passes. In a way, it is easier than the other games, in the sense that you can see what you are doing, and that the city develops much faster. You are offered monuments in a faster time, and it is SO MUCH FUN! Whether you like the other Sim City's or not, this is a definate must-play. You can not get bored of this game, or at least I haven't and I have spent over 48 hours playing. I recommend this game to anyone and everyone!
