Amazon.co.uk Review With the SimCity 3000 franchise being as popular as ever, Electronic Arts bring us SimCity 3000 UK Edition. Following on from the World Edition, this version offers a UK perspective on things; Big Ben, Trafalgar Square and Tudor-style buildings are all present. The game follows on in the same style as the SimCity series, and sees you trying to build a city by assigning zones for residential, commercial and industrial use. In addition to this, you must also worry about water, electricity and even where to put your landfill site for the rubbish. The game has come on leaps and bounds since SimCity 2000, although if you invested in SimCity 3000 the first time around, you are really going to have to want that English feel to buy this one. --Paul Munford

Worth buying! July 17, 2008 Aj (Basingstoke, U.K) I bought this a few month after buying the orginal simcity 3000 ans was not let down, it is a great game. The gameplay is pretty simple so it does'nt take ages to get into! The range of building is very good! I thought they would make the simcity series better after this one but they have gone down hill so i would say stick to this one!

The game follows on in the same style as the SimCity series, and sees you trying to build a city by assigning zones for residential, commercial and industrial use. In addition to this, you must also worry about water, electricity and even where to put your landfill site for the rubbish. This game is a classic. What makes this game even more smashing is its concentrated British theme, where you can have numerous British style buildings, plus famous landmarks such as the Tower of London, or Big Ben... However, it is not solely concentrated on Great Britain, it also contains North American, Continental Europe and Asian style buildings too. SC3K UK has beautiful crisp graphics, with excellent attention to detail, you can even see people walking on the pavements and cars moving on the roads! I would ask everyone to try this game u will be hooked.
Great game, shame about the bugs July 21, 2002 13 out of 19 found this review helpful
I really do like this game, but with some serious reservations. In ascending order... Minor irritation. I used to have one of the early version of Sim City on a Mac. It scrolled really easily when you moved the cursor to the edge of the screen. In this version you have to move the cursor to where you want the screen to centre and let it re-draw. Medium irritation. I resent the amount of time this programme spends on the internet checking in with its makers. I challenged EA on this and they fed me the usual stuff about it usefully checking for updates and fixes, but there is no way to stop it. If you buy this programme, be aware it will spend a lot of time 'phoning home' without your approval or knowledge. Big irritation. It crashes. A lot. Very big irritation. I have quite a collection of PC games. This is the only one that says in the instruction booklet, that to enjoy crashfree playing, you need to disable any anti-virus or crash-guard programmes, and it is best to ctrl-alt-del and then close down all background programs until only the Explorer and Systray are left!!! If you can live with all that - buy it. It is a good game.
Fantastic June 18, 2001 22 out of 25 found this review helpful
Well what can I say? This is the best game Ive played ages! It was a bit tricky to get the hang of at first, but once you've mastered it, it's great and keeps you hooked for hours on end. The controls are set out nicely and are easy to use. I also own the house sims game and I think that Simcity uk edition is as good as if not better than them. The graphics on this game are superb. Every little detail has been thought of and added (even boxes coming out of a factory). The are plenty of player options like different terrains, building styles and places in time, which make your gaming experience as varied as possible. What makes this game even better is that it is concentrated on a UK theme where you can build famous landmarks such as Big Ben an and the tower of London. But dont think it ends there, you can still have lanmarks such as the empire state building and the sydney opra house to keep you occupied. Dont fooled into thinking its all fun and games (haha!), as mayor you also have to protect your city from several natural disasters ranging from UFO invasions to meteroie showers. So watch out! You'll never be bored again. This game is deffinately good value money and a 'must buy'. Overall, contgratulatoins to the maxis team on a totaly fantastic game!
