Amazon.co.uk Review The latest sequel to one of the early pioneers of the god-sim genre, Sim City 4 is a polished, challenging evolution of the concept, which doesn't break much new ground. However, it certainly broadens out its challenge, making previously fiddly tasks a lot easier in the process. As ever, the task is one of balance. You're Mayor of a city, and you need to strike the right mix of commercial, industrial and residential areas, while keeping an eye on finances, the transport system, fire, education, landscape--the list goes on. To its credit, the game is as straightforward or hard as you want it to be, and it's surprisingly easy to get into. While you don't directly control individual buildings and people, the decisions you make have repercussions throughout, and need to be taken with care. After all, agreeing to build a landfill site may bring in some much needed revenue, but it's unlikely to go down well with the locals. As with its predecessors though, it's in the small details that Sim City 4 really scores. From residents going on the rampage through to full-scale disasters taking hold of your city, the complex game barely gives you a moment to rest. You can zoom in to get very close detail of what people are up to. And in a nice touch, any families created in The Sims can be moved into town. These characters are a real bonus when assessing the needs of your burgeoning city, as they tell you what they like, dislike and will positively not put up with in your metropolis. The lack of clear goals still haunts the franchise though, and despite the well-thought-through user interface, the casual gamer may still struggle to get to grips with the challenge. However, there are months of gameplay to enjoy if this kind of title is your bag, and Sim City 4 is another excellent addition to an already top-notch franchise. --Simon Brew

Outstanding Graphics December 31, 2008 Jalelo Gram (Brighton, UK) Sim City 4 seemed a good option as I like building simulation games which require thought. I would like to point out that the graphics are just flawless - all the building look so detailed and real and it shows that EA have put a lot of thought into this game. I also like that it's not too easy. In fact, it is very hard to start a succesfull city but boy is it worth it. You feel like your the real major of the city. However, there is one downside: if you have a low spec computer this game will probably stall and stutter but if you have a medium - high spec computer, this game is brilliant.
It's good but it gets boring April 14, 2008 Ms. M. J. Arnold (UK) Simcity4 is a good game, it's the only pc game that has ever held my interest, but after a while it gets boring & you have to try and find new ways of playing. I like the designing aspect, I wish they'd make sim-country, because I'd sooner make various sized towns with open countryside between & nature reserves. And the thing that is most disapointing about simcity4 is there are no shopping centres or multi-story car parks. + there are a lot of mistakes with the money aspects.
Rubbish November 21, 2007 Mrs. P. Mayer 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
What a let down! If you're like me and like to plan, build and design your city block by block intimately creating a city the way you want it to look stick with 3000 because this version takes away that game play and user control, exactly the way I didn't want SimCity games to go.
VERY GOOD! April 15, 2007 Fritzler/// 36 (South-West, England, UK) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Sim City 4 is by far the 2nd best computer game.
I would DEFINETLY recommend the Sim City 4 Deluxe Edition.
In the Deluxe Edition it includes the rush hour expansion pack (all in one).
It gives you many more options for travel and maintenance on roads, rail, AND buildings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You also get to do missions to win stuff like the casino or Area 5.1 making it 10x better than the 2nd best computer game... Sim City 4!
There are no limits on this amazing game (except your 500,000 simoleons always run out toooooooo fast don't they everyone!!!
Oh well- THE BEST GAME EVER!
(*As a word of warning- this is a very, very big PC game so check the requirements first!!
Unbelievable.. on a high spec. computer April 6, 2006 Tom Cat © (Earth) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Definately a classic game in every way - the graphics are beautiful and have so much depth, while the sound effects really are incredible, especially with some good speakers. This was my fist Sim City game and i was suprised at how easy it was to just start. The manual was no help at all though - for in game anyway, it just outlines what you have to do as being a mayor for a city. But I would reccomend 2 things - for the best performance, you will definately need lots of RAM (memory) on your PC, and a good grpahics card too - I've just invested in an ATI radeon 9200, which is 128mb which was cheap, and does the job fine. And because this has an adult theme, I doubt kids would understamd how to run the game, so I wouldnt give it to anyone under a teen. Overall a nice game, you'll be hooked when you first get it
